Pretail. I’m in.

Always meant to post this, possibly my absolute favourite 3D art of all time, but just realised that I hadn’t.

Most have seen it by now, but for those who haven’t, just try to keep in mind that EVERYTHING in this entire clip is 3D, NO footage.

Surviving Progress = great doco, produced by Martin Scorsese, bringing together all of the over-arching elements [ ecological + economical + technological + social ] into a holistic picture of the critical challenge humanity now faces.

Stories are the only enchantment possible, for when we begin to see our suffering as a story, we are saved.

Modern corporate IP wars represent everything that is wrong with capitalism and are crippling humanities’ full creative potential…

Abandon Wall Street - How the Peer-to-Peer economy will do what the occupiers couldn’t.

This is not an article about OWS, beyond it’s relevance in that it represents quite a few people sensing ‘something’ is wrong with the current capitalist model. Fortunately though, it’s turning out the solution is already occouring, quite organically - and it’s a lot more creative than barricade bashing.
The digital age, for all of it’s radical upheaval, actually because of it, is really the dawning of no less than a Second Renaissance - an age of radical human creativity, where eventually, the only work to be done by humans will be creative in one way or another.
Incredibly, this movement extends all the way up the tree - where computer algorithyms are better market traders, than well, traders and even the tide of manufacturing outsourcing is turning, with rapid prototyping robotics and 3D printing transforming this most solid and tangible of industrial age capitalist enterprises - being transformed into a highly customisable, affordable, on-demand web based service - where production comes FULL circle to once again reside in a locally based cottage industry. Don’t believe me ? It’s already happening at places like Toyota.
As the still surprisingly brief history of web/tech commerce testifies - the new model, with its high agility and constant flux, is inherently incompatible with the old model of investor capitalism, so well represented in metaphor by the fat, sluggish old men who most often run the show.
Like any organism, the internet - and specifically the billions of humans who now use it across the spectrum of their lives, every day - has a built-in auto-immune system - the internet was designed specificlly to re-route and find the most direct peer-to-peer connection. There is no middle man in this new node-to-node model - you are either the producer or the consumer in any case. Much of the time nowadays, you are both at the same time.
Anyways, end the ‘occupation’ and get excited - it’s the 2nd Renaissance !
